Holistic Kinesiology

Kinesiology is the scientific study of human mind, body and spirit. Focusing on movement, exercise, physical activity and emotional wellbeing. It combines knowledge from biology, anatomy, physiology, psychology, nutrition, biomechanics, and neuroscience to understand how the body moves and performs.

During a Kinesiology Session What Happens?

One of the most asked questions received is “what is kinesiology and what happens during a session?” The answer is the harmony of the mind, body and spirit working together.

Every session is individually different tailoring to the guidance of your body. Meaning that your body will guide us in many ways to find the source of issues that may be present. Sessions are calm, supportive and deeply personalised.

I practice the whole body approach, using a combination of complementary therapies. I have been trained in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Acupressure, Counselling, Body Psychology, Neurological and Brain Function Rebalancing, Nutrition, Energetic Medicine, Mindfulness Meditation, Sound Healing and many others. Together, we use your body to determine what single or combination is best for you at the time. During an initial session, we document in-depth your body posture and range of motion, medical history, diet intake and symptom evaluation to uncover what is the best way to help with your issue/s and relate them in terms of Chinese Medicine. We also often use tongue analysis and pulse analysis which are commonly used in Chinese Medicine along with conversation about what is currently happening in your life. This may include physical symptoms, emotional challenges, lifestyle factors, work or areas where you feel stuck or out of balance to better understand where imbalances may lie and how to best target and treat your main symptoms.

After we assess the physical body we discuss your stress levels and any emotional distress that you may be experiencing, we develop a goal that we want to work on during the session to help support you in overcoming any barriers. We can also use outcome specific goals for your physical symptoms or condition as a goal to focus our session on.

It's now the main tool of kinesiology begins to be used - muscle monitoring is used as a biofeedback process allows information to be accessed directly from the body, facilitating neurological connections between the physical body and the nervous system this tool lets us explore how the body is responding to different stressors. This process allows the body to communicate which areas may benefit from support and which techniques will best restore balance and release these stressors and blockages from your energy flow. Depending on what your body indicates, a session may involve a range of gentle balancing techniques designed to release stress patterns and support nervous system regulation. Many people describe feeling deeply relaxed during a session, while also gaining new insights into the patterns influencing their wellbeing.

After the balance has been completed, we then reassess for homework to assist the healing process and support personal growth between sessions. This could be the addition of mindfulness at home, specific types of exercise, additions of certain nutrients, changes in routines etc.

It is recommended that after your initial session you come back in 2-3 weeks for another session to check in and see how you have adjusted to any changes and assess where improvements have been made and find any areas that need further focus.

Clients often leave sessions feeling lighter, clearer, and more connected to themselves. Kinesiology is about creating the right conditions in which the body’s natural capacity for balance and healing can materialize.
